However, as much as it is driven by the business opportunity within, the platform is more focused on maximizing integrity and the social value of such websites. Whereas many penny auction sites do not protect its bidders from fraud and abuse, AnniesBid lives up to its promise so bidders can generate immediate social impact while seeking a unique entertainment and shopping experience. We are interested in profit as well, but we're more interested in maximizing the value to communities as a whole. We believe that we can all benefit with better schools, improved health, less poverty, and world peace--morally and financially. That's why a very significant portion of our already very low bid prices goes to charity with each bid. Also, since we do care about our community, it means we care about our bidders too! We do our best to discourage predatory behaviors by identifying and banning users that take advantage of others through collusion or other unfair bidding practices that are detriminental to fair bidding. The ultimate safeguard is our "Buy it Now" feature, available on any non-hybrid auction (auctions without bids attached). Our bidders cannot lose money since even if they are not the highest bidder they can receive a full credit for all their unsuccessful bids by using "Buy it Now". However, parts of the credit will still go toward the featured charity. Another crucial distinction between Annie's Auctions and many other penny auction sites is that our charitable contributions are transparent. Every bid placed on our site raises more money for our sponsored charities. We don't use an arbitrary accounting measure like "net profit" as the basis. You know exactly how much is going to a charity with each click of the mouse and with each bid you make. You can even see how much you've donated in the "My Account" section. You can also track how much money is actually raised by everyone bidding for our charities by checking our "Featured Causes" page. Our goal is stated and unequivocal. Annie's Auctions aims to give away over 50% of auction profit by giving $0.10 per purchased bid to our featured causes.
